Hamas will suspend weapons truce negotiations in Gaza for now

Up until now, discussions have been ongoing about a plan proposed by US President Joe Biden in May, which outlined a six-week ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of a large portion of Israeli hostages. The talks were resumed this week under the leadership of the US, Qatar, and Egypt.

Haniya had criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday for attempting to impose a weapons ceasefire in the Gaza Strip through "despicable massacres" by the Israeli army, according to a statement by a Palestinian organization.

According to Hamas, 92 people were killed and 300 others were injured in an Israeli attack on the Al-Mawasi refugee camp near the city of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip on Saturday.

The Israeli military described the attack as an assault on an "enclosed and Hamas-administered area" and stated that it was targeting the Hamas military chief, Mohammed Deif, and another high-ranking Hamas leader, Rafah Salama. Both were accused of orchestrating the unprecedented Hamas attack on Israel on October 7.

Despite not confirming that Deif was actually present in the camp, it was reported from Hamas circles that he was "well." This individual oversees the operations of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas.

According to reports from the health ministry controlled by the Islamic Hamas, which cannot be independently verified, more than 38,440 people have been killed in the ensuing events.

According to Israeli estimates, 1195 people were killed and 251 were taken hostage during the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7. In response to the attack, Israel has been conducting massive military operations in the Gaza Strip with the stated goal of destroying Hamas.
