Hamas ministry: 16 dead in Israeli attack on school
According to Hamas, 7000 people sought refuge in the school in Nusseirat. Most of the victims of the attack were "Women, Children and Elderly". Doctors had reported ten deaths from an attack on a building in Nusseirat earlier.
"This place served as a hideout and operational infrastructure, from which attacks on Israeli troops operating in the Gaza Strip were directed and carried out", the Israeli army further explained. Measures have been taken to reduce the risk of harming civilians.
