Halle-Neustadt goes down 19:41 at leaders Bietigheim
The handball players of SV Union Halle-Neustadt were unable to stop SG BBM Bietigheim's run of success. Till Wiechers' charges lost by a clear 19:41 (11:17) at the top of the table on Wednesday. Despite their fourth defeat of the season, the club from Halle is still four points clear of the first relegation spot. Antje Döll (5), Xenia Smits and Jenny Behrend (5/2 each) played the biggest part in Bietigheim's success. Cara Reuthal (7/2) scored the most goals for SV Union.
The team from Halle was able to keep up with the league leaders, at least in the first half, despite the 1:5 false start (7th minute). The visitors had fought their way back to 11:14 by the 27th minute. However, the visitors completely collapsed after the break. Just seven minutes after the restart, the deficit had doubled (12:24) for the club from Halle, who looked like they had been relegated in the second 30 minutes. Bietigheim was already 20 goals ahead at 35:15 in the 50th minute. The home side exploited the many turnovers by its opponents to score easy goals on the break.
Despite their valiant effort, the women's handball team from Halle-Neustadt failed to secure a victory in the Bundesliga, losing to Bietigheim with a score of 19:41. Even in the women's Bundesliga, Bietigheim maintained their dominance, with players like Antje Döll and Xenia Smits contributing significantly to their victory.
