Fire department operation - Hall with yacht burns at shipyard on the Kiel Canal
At the Lürssen Yard's site in Schacht-Audorf near the Nord-Ostsee Canal, not far from the Radar High Bridge, a fire has broken out. It is burning extensively, said a fire department spokesperson. A hall in which a yacht is located is on fire. According to the police, a person suffered from light carbon monoxide poisoning.
The yard is being evacuated. The fire is reportedly spreading further. There is strong development of smoke. The population in the area is asked to keep windows and doors closed.
The fire at the Lürssen Yard in Schacht-Audorf threatens to spread to the nearby shipbuilding area. The Schleswig-Holstein fire department is actively operating to contain the fires in the shipyard's shipbuilding hall, where a yacht is currently engulfed.
