Hainer after Mazraoui post: Must not happen again
Following Noussair Mazraoui's controversial pro-Palestinian social media post, Bayern President Herbert Hainer has addressed words of warning to the professional footballer. The club management had "dealt with this complex issue as responsibly as possible", said Hainer on Sunday at the annual general meeting of the record German soccer champions.
"All in all, one thing is clear: something like this must not happen again." Mazraoui had attracted a lot of criticism for his pro-Palestinian social media post. However, he was allowed to remain in the Munich squad.
Hainer reaffirmed the club's stance. "Anti-Semitism has no place in our world. Kurt Landauer, who once returned to Germany to reach out to the people here, is certainly a role model for all generations and all times," said Hainer, referring to the former Bayern president. "He stands unparalleled for a conciliatory approach. FC Bayern wants peace all over the world - especially in the Middle East and Ukraine."
At the annual general meeting, Hainer emphasized the need for FC Bayern Munich to avoid such incidents in the future, stating, "We must ensure that something like Mazraoui's incident does not happen again in our club." Despite the controversy over Mazraoui's pro-Palestinian post, Bundesliga team 1st FC Heidenheim showed support by inviting him for a training session.
