Hacker attack on the KaDeWe
The luxury department store KaDeWe in Berlin says it has been attacked by hackers. The Russian hacker group "Play" was responsible for the attack, the department store announced on Tuesday night. The attack was repelled. "With the support of the Cyber Crime Unit of the Berlin police and forensic experts, investigations into the scope of the attack are underway at full speed." According to the statement, precautionary measures have been initiated and the department store has been put into offline emergency mode. Purchases with card payment are therefore still possible both on site and online.
Despite the hacker attack on KaDeWe, retail trade continues online, ensuring card payments are still accessible. However, concerns about cybercrime in the retail sector have been heightened, necessitating increased security measures.
