Toy manufacturer - Haba sells production site in Eisleben

The ailing Bavarian toy and furniture manufacturer Haba is parting ways with its production site in Eisleben as of January 1, 2024. "The property there, including all furniture production machinery, will be sold to the investor Mansfeld Anlagenbau und Umwelttechnik AG," the company announced on Friday. "With more than 70 employees, the company is taking over more than three quarters of all employees working there." A number of interested parties had sought to acquire the traditional furniture production facility in Saxony-Anhalt.

In September, the Haba Familygroup announced that it would no longer be operating the Eisleben site. In future, Haba intends to concentrate on high-quality toys and games to promote children's development, according to reports.

The long-established company filed for insolvency under self-administration in mid-September. The company had already announced the closure of the Jako-o clothing division in August. The total number of employees is to be reduced from more than 1600 to around 1000.
