During the early hours of Monday night, a 46-year-old man in Viersen was shot in his leg. Despite the injury, his life wasn't at risk. Witnesses described a speeding white off-road vehicle with KK license plates as leaving the scene quickly - KK represents the formerly existing district of Kempen-Krefeld, whose aged license plates have been reissued for over a decade.

As part of the investigation, a helicopter was utilized in the search efforts. Subsequent to a brawl in a gambling area of a local tavern involving five men, the gunshots were fired on the street when the group was leaving the bar. Authenticating investigations yielded a breakthrough on Monday morning. A 45-year-old Viersen native was taken into temporary custody. An alleged participant in the altercation, he found himself in the center of the inquiry.
