Gunshots heard in Eschweiler, senior citizen badly hurt

In Eschweiler near Aachen, a 76-year-old man shot at cops from a garden shed on an allotment plot. Police officers fired back on the weekend, severely wounding the elderly man. He remained unharmed. The reasons behind the altercation are currently unclear.

Police say firefighters called them when they found a 76-year-old man who seemed confused and had heavy bleeding. It wasn't clear why the firefighters were there in the allotment garden. After arriving at Weisweiler district, the armed elderly man ran into a garden house.

Since the situation was unclear, special police teams were also summoned. During the operation, there was a shootout, and now, the police are trying to figure out why the old man behaved that way.
