Legal official imparts judgment - Gunshots directed at a groom will prompt a retrial.
A case involving a father-in-law being accused of shooting his son-in-law in Sontra five years ago is back in the Gießen District Court. The father-in-law, a 55-year-old German-Turk, has not yet made any statements about the charges. However, he may choose to speak up at a later time. The first day of the trial included testimony from witnesses like neighbors and police officers. The son-in-law is set to testify on Thursday. The jury has set the dates for the trial up to July 31st.
This man is charged with both attempted murder and aggravated assault. The incident allegedly happened in February 2019 when he attempted to stop the wedding of his Kurdish son-in-law by firing shots at him, resulting in serious injuries.
Previously, the case was heard twice at the Kassel District Court, but both verdicts were overturned by the Federal Court of Justice. So, the court proceedings were then moved to the Gießen District Court.
