European Football Championship - Gündogan: No thought of retiring from the national team

Ilkay Gündogan thinks differently than teammate Toni Kroos about the end of his career in the German football national team - regardless of the outcome of the EURO 2020 quarter-final against Spain. "I haven't thought about it yet", said the captain of the DFB selection at the press conference in Stuttgart.

The 33-year-old will not play his 82nd international match on Friday (6:00 pm/ARD/Magenta TV). For teammate Toni Kroos, who will completely retire after the EURO, the team wants to do everything "so it's not its last game", said Gündogan. Two more games are planned with Kroos - thus until the EURO final on July 11 in Berlin.

Eye to Eye

The professional of FC Barcelona looks at the duel with Spain optimistically. "The mood is good, unchanged, as in the last games", said Gündogan. "We feel equipped and prepared for an eye-to-eye game. There's no reason to go into the game anything but self-confidently", he assured. One can "go into the game with a smile".
