Guidelines for solar installations on Saxon cultural monuments
The State Office for the Preservation of Monuments in Saxony has published guidelines for the installation of solar systems on monuments. The aim is to provide information on how to find solutions that are as compatible as possible with monuments, taking into account the respective values to be preserved, as the Saxon State Conservator, Alf Furkert, said in a press release on Sunday. "We are also committed to the task of preserving our cultural monuments in the way we shape energy security and climate protection."
Solar and photovoltaic systems are technical installations that in many cases cannot be easily reconciled with the defining characteristics of a cultural monument. There is often an area of tension between the expectations of the monument owner and those of monument protection and preservation.
Despite the challenges in reconciling solar systems with the characteristics of cultural monuments, the guidelines emphasize the importance of preserving these monuments while promoting renewable energy. The task of balancing energy security and climate protection with the preservation of energy-efficient monuments is a complex one, involving solar installations.
