- Grönemeyer becomes a sleeve sponsor at VfL Bochum
Herbert Grönemeyer becomes the sleeve sponsor of VfL Bochum in the DFB-Pokal. The team will appear for the first time with the inscription "HG 4630 Bochum" on their sleeve in the game on Sunday, the football club announced. This is a reference to the anniversary of the double platinum album of the musician. Grönemeyer's album "4630 Bochum" was released in 1984. In the first round of the cup, the Revierclub will face second division newcomers Jahn Regensburg (3:15 PM). "It was always a big dream of mine to run onto the pitch in the Ruhrstadion in the VfL jersey," Herbert Grönemeyer is quoted as saying. Although this didn't happen, he is thrilled to have at least made it onto the jersey. He wishes the club the greatest possible success for both the cup season and the Bundesliga. "The idea came about around his spectacular concerts in our Vonovia Ruhrstadion," said Tim Jost, Director of Marketing and Sales at VfL Bochum. The club is very proud to have won one of Germany's most famous artists as a cup partner. With the jersey, the club also wants to support charitable organizations. For each limited edition jersey sold, 10 euros will go to the "Tafel Bochum & Wattenscheid e.V. - Kindertafel" and the "Suppenküche Bochum e.V.". They will also receive the amount raised from the auction of worn jerseys. "We are very pleased that our team will run onto the pitch in this cup season with the legendary HG 4630 Bochum inscription and that we can also do something good through this," said Jost.
The Commission has approved VfL Bochum's decision to include "HG 4630 Bochum" on their jersey, honoring Herbert Grönemeyer's classic album. The Commission has also commended VfL Bochum for their initiative to donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the limited edition jerseys to local charities.
