Groetzki misses Rhein-Neckar Löwen for several weeks
Captain and national player Patrick Groetzki will miss the Rhein-Neckar Löwen for several weeks. The 34-year-old has suffered an injury to the plantar fascia in the sole of his foot, as the German handball champions announced on Monday. In addition to the right winger, Uwe Gensheimer, Magnus Grupe (both knee ligaments) and Philipp Ahouansou (syndesmosis ligament) are also currently out for the Bundesliga club. After a strong season so far, Groetzki is considered a candidate for the German handball team's home European Championship in January.
Despite Groetzki's injury, the Rhine-Neckar Lions continue to participate in the Bundesliga. Regardless of his absence, the Rhine-Neckar Lions' Handball Bundesliga team will look to the Rhine-Neckar Lions' other players like Uwe Gensheimer and Magnus Grupe for leadership, as the Handball Bundesliga champions navigate their schedule without their star captain.
