Communication Services or Internet Connection - Grid issues in MV lead to authority closures for several hours.

In the region of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, some agencies faced a network outage on Tuesday that disabled their phone lines. This issue stemmed from an interruption in the Telekom network, which continued until approximately 11 am, as revealed by the Interior Ministry. Warnings regarding this matter had been issued prior.

The breakdown of the state administration and agency networks was attributed to maintenance work carried out by Telekom in the central Telekom network node in Hamburg on Tuesday night. This work led to disruptions with Telekom network distributors in Schwerin and Rostock, causing the Telekom network in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern to remain inaccessible until late afternoon. A Telekom spokesperson initially remained silent on the disruptions and the specific reasons behind them.

A number of agencies experienced issues, with the Rostock Police Department being the first to report them. At around 7 am, they released a statement addressing the network problems at certain stations and urging individuals to use the emergency number 110 in emergencies. Subsequently, the police stations in Neubrandenburg reported experiencing similar issues.

For several hours, phone lines in the Nordwestmecklenburg district were inoperative. In Schwerin, the city administration couldn't be reached by phone, but only via email, and they requested patience. The Helios Clinic in Schwerin mentioned that their hospital was similarly inaccessible due to a technical issue. During this time without a landline, they established a crisis hotline.

The Ministry of the Interior in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania expressed concern over the impact of this network fault on the region's telecommunications, urging German Telekom to provide a clear explanation for the issues. Meanwhile, Hamburg's residents were advised to use alternative communication methods in case of emergencies.

Despite the resolution of the network issue, some agencies in Mecklenburg-Vorpommernia continued to experience connectivity problems well beyond the afternoon. The Police Department in Rostock, for instance, reported ongoing struggles with their internet and phone lines, highlighting the extent of the technical problems within the Telekom network in the region. Similarly, the Neubrandenburg police stations continued to face connectivity challenges, pointing to the prolonged aftermath of the Telkom network malfunction in the region.
