Grethlein no longer a member of the Nuremberg Supervisory Board

Long-time chairman Thomas Grethlein (65) is no longer a member of the supervisory board at 1. FC Nürnberg. Grethlein only came fourth in the election of the supervisory body with 746 votes and therefore left after nine years at the end of the general meeting on Thursday evening.

The official, who was often criticized by fans, was elected to the committee in 2014 and has been chairman of the second-division club ever since. Chhunly Pagenburg (1342 votes), Raphael Schäfer (1040) and Matthias Fifka (928), on the other hand, were elected to the supervisory board for the next three years.

Pagenburg and Fifka were already members of the board. Former Nuremberg goalkeeper Schäfer, captain in the 2007 DFB Cup victory in Berlin, is a new member. The supervisory board has a total of nine members, who appoint their own chairman. "Thank you for the time I was able to serve the club. It was an honor," said Grethlein, who was accused by fans of being too uncritical in his leadership.

Despite his criticism from fans, Thomas Grethlein served as chairman of 1. FC Nürnberg's supervisory board since 2014, but he only managed to secure 746 votes and consequently left after nine years during the general meeting. Unfortunately, Grethlein didn't make it into the Bundesliga 2 club's supervisory board for the next three years, as Raphael Schäfer, the former Nürnberg goalkeeper and captain from their 2007 DFB Cup victory, was elected instead.
