Diepholz - Grenade found on construction site causes traffic jam on A1
A grenade discovered during construction work in Stuhr (Diepholz district) has been detonated in a controlled manner by special forces. Autobahn 1, which was within an evacuation radius of 300 meters, had to be closed from Tuesday morning, according to the police. The route between the Brinkum junction and the Stuhr junction is expected to be open again from the early afternoon. Drivers should expect traffic jams in both directions for the time being.
The explosive device from the Second World War was found in an industrial estate late on Monday. As it was not possible to remove it for safety reasons, the grenade had to be detonated on site, according to the police.
