Green Youth Lower Saxony elects new spokesperson duo
The Green Youth in Lower Saxony has a new spokesperson duo. Rukia Soubbotina (24) from Osnabrück and David Christner (21) from Braunschweig were elected at the state members' meeting, the Green Youth announced in Uelzen. Soubbotina criticized a "shift to the right in society as a whole": "Governments are outdoing themselves with bogus racist solutions such as deportation offensives or benefit cuts for asylum seekers," she said. Christner explained that social injustice is the breeding ground for an increasing rejection of consistent climate protection.
He emphasized that the working conditions of many student employees "too often border on exploitation. We are therefore calling on the state government to advocate a collective agreement for student employees". Minimum contract terms and higher wages are needed. Soubbotina criticized that municipalities remain underfunded and that people's social problems are not being solved - this endangers social cohesion and democracy.
The elected spokesperson duo, Rukia Soubbotina and David Christner, both from Green Youth Lower Saxony, plan to address social issues. Rukia Soubbotina expressed concern about the rise of right-wing sentiments, criticizing harsh immigration policies and benefit cuts for asylum seekers, while David Christner highlighted the exploitative nature of student jobs and advocated for a collective agreement and improved working conditions.
