The Greens successfully defended their lead in the Tübingen municipal election with an initial result of approximately 33.7%. The SPD came in second with about 14.6%. Following closely were the Tübingen List e.V. at roughly 14%, and the CDU with 13.3%. The Left garnered around 9.3%, and the FDP obtained 5.2%.

In contrast to the past municipal election, the Alternative for Germany (AfD) did not compete in Tübingen this year and consequently failed to secure a seat on the Tübingen City Council. There were approximately 70,000 eligible voters for this election. Turnout rose slightly to 71.2%, compared to 70.8% in 2019.

At the previous municipal election in 2019, the Greens triumphed in Tübingen with 34.6%. The SPD took second place with 13.9%, the Tübingen List acquired 13.1%, the CDU received 13.1%, the Left gained 11.2%, and the FDP earned 5.7%.

Approximately 8.6 million people were eligible to cast votes in the district council, county council, and local council elections across the nation. The inaugural session for the newly elected city council is penciled in for July 18 in Tübingen. "I extend my congratulations to all those elected and eagerly anticipate fresh concepts and fresh perspectives for the improvement of our city," expressed Mayor Boris Palmer (independent) on Monday evening.
