The "Grandmas Against the Right" movement has called on democratic parties to develop and promote their own solutions and visions for societal problems and crises. Delayed and unresolved issues that are exploited by populists pose a threat to democracy, the group declared at the conclusion of its first federal congress in Erfurt. There are no simple solutions to the diversity of problems. Freedom also means responsibility.

In the final declaration, "Grandmas Against the Right" called for the protection of democracy as "the only viable form of coexistence." They are particularly concerned about the upcoming state elections in eastern Germany and the performance of the AfD.

At the congress in Erfurt, around 300 participants exchanged experiences and collected ideas for their voluntary engagement. According to the police, around 800 people participated in a demonstration in the Thuringian state capital for the protection of democracy. There are more than 200 groups of "Grandmas Against the Right" with around 30,000 active members in Germany.
