Bundesliga 2 - Grammozis new coach at 1. FC Kaiserslautern
Dimitrios Grammozis is the new coach of 1. FC Kaiserslautern and thus the successor to Dirk Schuster, who was surprisingly suspended last week. The 45-year-old will lead the first training session at the Betzenberg on Sunday with new assistant Sven Piepenbrock, as announced by FCK.
Kaiserslautern did not disclose the duration of the contract. Grammozis played for Kaiserslautern from 2000 to 2005 following his spell at Hamburger SV. The German-Greek had to leave as head coach of FC Schalke 04 in March 2022, as the Royal Blues' aspired return to the top flight was not in sight, and had been without a job since then. He had previously coached SV Darmstadt 98 in the second division.
The club from Lauterheim had conceded a 4-1 defeat at 1. FC Magdeburg on Saturday evening and slipped to the bottom of the table after their sixth winless game in a row.
