Graf: No permanent use of Tempelhofer Feld

Green parliamentary group leader Werner Graf has warned the black-red Senate against the permanent use of Tempelhofer Feld. The reception, care and accommodation of refugees is a joint task for all democratic forces, Graf told the German Press Agency on Thursday. This also applies with regard to the temporary accommodation planned by the Senate on Tempelhofer Feld. "The red line must be clear to the Senate: The change in the law must not be a Trojan horse for permanent development."

Black-Red must do justice to the referendum in which a majority voted against building on Tempelhofer Feld in 2014. "That is why the exception in the law must always be temporary, earmarked and mobile." Graf called for support structures to be urgently set up for the planned accommodation. "First and foremost, this includes a Medipoint to provide first aid directly on site." There is still no functioning water supply. "The Senate must realize that the construction of tempohomes alone is not enough."

On Tuesday, the Senate task force on refugee accommodation agreed to expand the development of Tempelhofer Feld on the site of the former airport in order to create temporary accommodation for refugees. To this end, the Tempelhofer Feld Act is to be amended, which practically prohibits further development.

The Green party led by Werner Graf emphasizes the need for all democratic forces to collectively manage the reception, care, and accommodation of refugees, including the temporary accommodation planned by the Senate on Tempelhofer Feld. In the Senate, the Greens have set a clear boundary: the law change should not serve as a disguise for permanent development on Tempelhofer Feld.
