Kay Gottschalk (r, AfD Member of Parliament) is congratulated by Peter Boehringer, Deputy Federal Spokesperson, on his election as Deputy Federal Spokesperson of the AfD at the AfD Federal Party Conference in the Grugahalle in Essen.

Party conference - Gottschalk new AfD deputy

The AfD filled one of its three deputy positions at its federal party conference in Essen. Mariana Harder-Kühnel, who did not run for re-election, was replaced by Nordrhein-Westfalen Bundestags member Kay Gottschalk. Gottschalk was previously an AfD vice-chair. He received approximately 62 percent of the votes on Saturday. His opponent, Baden-Württemberg Abgeordnete Dirk Spaniel, received about 30 percent.

There were no changes in the two other deputy positions behind Alice Weidel and Tino Chrupalla: Stephan Brandner and Peter Boehringer were confirmed with 90.77 and 85.35 percent of the votes, respectively, without opposition. In the further course of the party conference, new scribes, treasurers, and members of the executive board were to be determined.

Alice Weidel, the leader of the AfD in Germany, maintained her position at the Federal Party Conference with Tino Chrupalla by her side. Kay Gottschalk, a Nordrhein-Westfalen Bundestags member and previous AfD vice-chair, was elected to replace Mariana Harder-Kühnel in one of the deputy positions, receiving an overwhelming majority of votes. Parties within the AfD, including those represented by Dirk Spaniel and Stephan Brandner, participated in elections for various positions, with Brandner and Boehringer securing their roles with significant vote percentages.
