Goretzka and Upamecano's appearances against Heidenheim open
FC Bayern Munich have left Leon Goretzka and Dayot Upamecano's appearances in the Bundesliga home game against 1. FC Heidenheim open. "We have to see how Leon is doing, how Upa is doing, how Raphael Guerreiro is doing," said coach Thomas Tuchel on Friday. Munich host the newly promoted side from Baden-Württemberg on Saturday (3.30pm).
Goretzka and Upamecano had to make a zero-to-a-hundred start at FC Bayern after injuries and could not be gradually integrated. Several players, such as Alphonso Davies and Minjae Kim, had also played a lot recently, said Tuchel. The puzzle will only be solved on match day.
In any case, Munich will have to do without the injured Matthijs de Ligt and Jamal Musiala. Joshua Kimmich is suspended. De Ligt and Kimmich were already absent in Dortmund. In place of Musiala, who also had to withdraw from the last international matches of the year due to a torn muscle fibre, Thomas Müller will probably move into the starting line-up. "We have several alternatives. But Thomas is of course the top alternative if we play in the same system," said Tuchel.
According to Tuchel, Guerreiro feels like he could play a half. However, the 50-year-old coach warned that particular attention must be paid to his injury history.
The 29-year-old Portuguese is back after tearing a muscle fiber in his left thigh. After tearing a muscle bundle in the summer, the former Dortmund player has only made two appearances for Munich.
Goretzka and Upamecano's fitness could potentially impact FC Bayern Munich's lineup in their Bundesliga match against 1st FC Heidenheim, as Tuchel stated they need to assess their conditions. Despite Goretzka and Upamecano having to start abruptly after injuries, FC Bayern will face 1st FC Heidenheim from Baden-Württemberg on Saturday.
