Good-humored bears and shocked dachshunds - even animals are divided about snow

Winter weather - Good-humored bears and shocked dachshunds - even animals are divided about snow

At the beginning of December, the weather in Germany is wintry. Many wild animals find less food in the cold season. On the one hand, because the ground is frozen and there is hardly any fresh greenery, grains or seeds. On the other hand, insects, for example, are no longer a source of food for birds. Conservationists advise helping wild birds make ends meet with food until spring. You can find a few tips here.

Many migratory birds have already made their way south, but probably not all of them: due to the generally milder winters in our regions, it has been observed time and again in recent years that classic migratory birds skip the strenuous flight south to spend the winter in their summer quarters. Others cut the journey short and take a winter break halfway.

Weather suddenly changed - December began with frost and snow

This year, however, some "Dableiber" were caught cold by the cold and snow, as reported by the "Süddeutsche Zeitung" newspaper, for example. The onset of winter came early, brought a lot of snow in some places and temperatures dropped significantly. Suddenly it is cold and food becomes scarce.

Other animal species cope well with the drop in temperature - and for some, the snow triggers feelings of downright happiness. To observe such extremely joyful reactions, however, you have to go to the zoo and watch the penguins or polar bears.

Among pets such as dogs and cats, opinions are divided on the subject of snow. While some dogs are happy to play outside, others are just horrified, as a photo of a dachshund in this section proves.

We have put together a few animal snapshots in this picture gallery. Have fun with them!

Despite the early onset of winter with its snow and cold, some animals in Europe, such as the dachshund mentioned earlier, are not fond of the change. On the contrary, wild animals like bears in Germany, particularly in their natural habitats, seem to take joy in the snow, much like some animals in zoos.
