Tour by DP World - Golf Professional Jannik de Bruyn Ends 18th at the European Open in Winsen
Jannik de Bruyn, a golf pro, narrowly missed winning the European Open held in Winsen, Lower Saxony's Green Eagle facility. The 24-year-old Mönchengladbach native concluded the Par-73 course with a 78-round final, which saw him drop from fourth place to a tie for 18th with 287 total strokes. Laurie Canter, a 34-year-old Englishman, won the 2.5 million-dollar prize tournament by beating Austrian Bernd Wiesberger and South African Thriston Lawrence with a mere two strokes fewer at 279.
Canter secured his first victory on the rebranded DP World Tour after an intense showdown with Wiesberger and Lawrence, both sitting at 281. It's been 16 years since a German golfer last won an event on this same tour - Martin Kaymer taking home the International Open in Munich. Currently, the former world number one is transitioning to the competing LIV Tour.
