Film narrates a tale - "Goldener Spatz" festival: honoring kids with film accolades

The Children's Media Fest "Goldener Spatz" is kicking off with a bang: As earlier informed, the opening movie "Grüссе vom Mars" (from director Sarah Winkenstette) – a tale about a boy with autism – will be played at the anticipated start time of 4 PM on Sunday. Out of the year's 35 film and TV pieces, six are in the "Digital" category. As per the norm, a children's jury of 32 boys and girls will select the winner.

Named after the German Democratic Republic (GDR), the festival is turning 45 this year. To mark this special occasion, past winning films will be screened. Additionally, the 125th birthday of acclaimed author Erich Kästner (1899-1974) will be honored. As usual, various events for the media industry are set up to discuss recent advancements in children's media and a media educational program. Typically, the festival – often considered the biggest of its kind – then shifts to Erfurt after a few days. The awards ceremony is arranged for the 7th of June.
