Golden Lola awarded for short films: Prize money 260,000 euros
The German Short Film Award has been presented to five filmmakers and teams in Hamburg. On Thursday, director Marie Zrenner took home the Golden Lola for the best feature film with a maximum length of 30 minutes for her film "Alex in den Feldern", as a spokesperson for the Hamburg Short Film Agency announced on Friday.
Thi Dang An Tran's "Xanh" was named best animated film, Thuy-Han Nguyen-Chi's "Into the Violet Belly" was named best experimental film and the trophy for best medium-length film went to Kilian Armando Friedrich and Tizian Stromp Zagari and their film "Atomnomaden". The winning films were able to prevail against almost 220 other proposals. At the award ceremony at the International Kulturfabrik Kampnagel, prizes amounting to 260,000 euros were also awarded.
In a video message, Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth reportedly praised the short films and short filmmaking as "unique and important for German film art". Short films enable a change of perspective and promote understanding and curiosity for one another. In this context, she particularly emphasized the winners' flair for "stories in and around themes such as flight, racism, love or finding identity".
The Golden Lola for the best movie in the 'Movie' category with a length of up to 30 minutes was given to "Alex in den Feldern" by director Marie Zrenner, contributing to the 260,000 euros in awards for 'Awards'.
Short films in various categories, including 'Movie', were recognized and celebrated at the award ceremony, showcasing their importance as a platform for 'Awards' that foster new perspectives and promote empathy and curiosity.
