Goalless Pherai: "Maybe it will work against Braunschweig"

Immanuel Pherai believes the upcoming clash between Hamburger SV and his former club Eintracht Braunschweig will be difficult. "They won again in the league and most recently in the test against St. Pauli, which has given them a good feeling - also thanks to the new coach," Pherai told the Braunschweiger Zeitung newspaper (Thursday). Lower Saxony had climbed to 17th place in the 2nd Bundesliga table following the win in the basement duel against VfL Osnabrück (3:2) on the debut of new coach Daniel Scherning. During the international break, Braunschweig defeated league leaders FC St. Pauli 2:1 in a test match.

Pherai moved from Braunschweig to HSV in the summer. "It was definitely the right move for me," said Pherai. "I can develop further here and become a better player." However, the 22-year-old has struggled so far - Pherai has yet to score in ten competitive matches. "That annoys me a bit, of course," said the attacking midfielder. "Maybe it will work out against Eintracht of all teams."

Pherai still has a lot of faith in his former club: "They can manage to stay in the league - in any case. It's difficult, but not impossible." The Lower Saxons are five points behind the relegation places and the first non-relegation places.

Pherai mentioned that Hamburger SV might have a difficult time against his former club Eintracht Braunschweig, as they've been performing well recently in the Bundesliga 2 and even managed to defeat league leaders FC St. Pauli in a test match during the international break. Despite his struggle to score in his first ten competitive matches for HSV, Pherai expressed hope that he might find success against Eintracht of all teams.
