- Goalkeeper Schult moves to the US
Former football goalkeeper Almuth Schult continues her career in the USA. The Kansas City Current announced the signing of the 2016 Olympic champion. The 33-year-old has initially signed a contract until the end of the 2024 season. The season runs until November.
Most recently, the long-serving goalkeeper of VfL Wolfsburg played four games for second division side Hamburger SV. She had already played in the top US league for Angel City FC from July to November 2022.
"I'm very happy to be joining Kansas City and I'm glad to be playing at the highest level again after my second pregnancy," said Schult. She became a mother to twins in April 2020 and gave birth to a son last August.
She has also been working as an expert for ARD for some time now, most recently at the men's home European Championship in June and July. For now, she is taking a break from her TV work.
Almuth Schult's return to the United States of America is marked by her signing with the Kansas City Current, rejoining the top US league where she previously played for Angel City FC. Despite her commitment to the Kansas City Current until the end of the 2024 season, Schult has significant experience playing football in the USA.
