Football-Second League team Karlsruher SC has signed goalkeeper Robin Himmelmann. The 35-year-old comes from Southwest and league rival 1. FC Kaiserslautern. Himmelmann's signing is in relation to the recent departure of regular goalkeeper Patrick Drewes (31) to Bundesliga team VfL Bochum. In the new season, KSC relies on the eleven years younger Max Weiß in goal, with Aki Koch (20), who was brought in from Mainz U19, available as backup.

"Robin is the ideal addition to complete our goalkeeper team. It was important for us to have an experienced goalkeeper besides Max Weiß and Aki Koch," explained Sebastian Freis, Professional Sector Manager at KSC. Himmelmann is supposed to challenge Weiß sportingly and support the "both younger goalkeepers in their next development steps with his experience" in Wildpark.
