Goalkeeper Ebner excels in SC DHfK Leipzig's home win
The SC DHfK Leipzig handball team have celebrated their third successive home win in the Bundesliga. The team coached by Runar Sigtryggsson defeated TVB Stuttgart 36:30 (15:15) on Thursday evening. In front of 4202 spectators, Franz Semper and Viggo Kristjansson were the best scorers with eight goals each. However, Domenico Ebner was the outstanding player for SC DHfK, who are now in ninth place with 12:14 points. The Italian international goalkeeper shone with 20 saves.
Leipzig immediately found its rhythm in offense and led 6:3 after just six minutes. It was the prelude to a furious exchange of blows in which both teams impressed with their high tempo and strong exploitation of chances. The scoring continued up to 13:12 (17th minute) before the game took a spectacular turn, for which the two goalkeepers who had been substituted were primarily responsible.
Stuttgart's Miljan Vujovic had made seven saves by the break. Ebner became the difference-maker for Leipzig, saving eight of the visitors' eleven shots in the first half.
SC DHfK got off to the better start in the second half, now playing out its attacks more patiently again. However, Stuttgart did not allow itself to be shaken off and remained in contention until 21:22 (41'), before the home side produced a 6:2 run to open up a 28:23 gap (50').
Ebner regularly drove TVB's scorers to despair in this spell, too. Stuttgart tried to throw Leipzig off its stride with offensive cover in the final spell, but Sigtryggsson's players did not allow anything more to happen.
The triumphant handball team of SC DHfK Leipzig continues their winning streak in the Bundesliga, with Domenico Ebner, the Italian international goalkeeper, playing a crucial role in their 36:30 victory over TVB Stuttgart. Ebner's impressive save count of 20 during the match, particularly in the first half, significantly contributed to Leipzig's ninth-place position in the Bundesliga with 12:14 points.
