Engine damage - Glider has to make an emergency landing in a field
Due to an engine failure, a glider had to make an emergency landing in the Northeim district on a field. According to the police, the incident occurred in the afternoon on Friday near the settlement of Bentierode. Witnesses called the police when they observed the motorized glider flying so low that it almost touched the tree tops of a nearby forest. A radio relay crew located the glider that had landed on the field. The two occupants were unharmed, but the landing gear was slightly damaged, it was reported. According to the pilot, an engine failure during the flight was the cause of the emergency landing.
The engine damage necessitated an immediate assessment by the glider's crew in Northeim. The emergency landing triggered a response from the local authorities, including the police in Lower Saxony's Bad Gandersheim county. Despite the low altitude and close encounter with tree tops, air traffic was not affected due to the remote location of the incident. Thankfully, the glider's occupants managed to escape without any injuries, however, the landing gear sustained minor damage.
