- Glass shards in the city park's swimming pool - locked
Just in time for the hot days of the Hamburg summer holidays, the large wading pool in the city park has to be closed for some time - for safety reasons. On Sunday, larger quantities of glass shards were found in the pool, the Hamburg-Nord district office announced. Therefore, the pool was immediately closed and access prohibited. The water has already been drained and is now being cleaned.
More than 100 years old wading pool
"After the cleaning is done, the water at the popular spot for young and old will be refilled by Tuesday. This will take several days," it was stated further. The German Weather Service (DWD) predicts up to 32 degrees in Hamburg for Tuesday and Wednesday.
The more than 50-meter-long, oval pool is surrounded by a spacious sand area with many play devices. More than 100 years ago, in 1921, it was completed. In 2014, the pool underwent a general overhaul.
Due to the cleaning process, visitors will have to wait until Tuesday to enjoy their free time at the pool again. Unfortunately, with the anticipated high temperatures of up to 32 degrees, the pool will remain closed during this free time period.
