In certain areas, the large groups are being grouped together in twos to better endure the growing pressure from the Danube river. The cities of Straubing and Straubing-Bogen both declared a state of emergency on Sunday due to the flooding.

On Sunday evening, the warning level was surpassed in Straubing. As per the flood warning service, the water level reached 6.74 meters on Monday morning. The maximum level was predicted for Tuesday. This would happen a day earlier than initially projected.

The city requested residents to avoid closed sections and to adhere to the directions of emergency responders. The fire department is said to be frequently conducting dam patrols.
