Bundesliga - Gfrerer new head of fitness at FC Bayern Munich
The Austrian Walter Gfrerer will become the new Fitness Chief at FC Bayern Munchen starting July 1st. As "Head of Performance", the 51-year-old will be responsible for the athletic and performance department in professional football for women and men as well as the youth sector of the record champions, the Bundesligist announced on Thursday. Gfrerer is the successor of Holger Broich. The separation from Broich was announced by the club on Wednesday.
Gfrerer was the athletic trainer of VfL Wolfsburg last season, before that he worked as Performance Manager at AS Monaco and as a conditioning coach for RB Salzburg. "He brings multifaceted experiences from his various stations and will provide new impulses," said Sporting Director Max Eberl.
In the context of the realignment, the former team manager Kathleen Kruger moves to a staff position in the sports management. She is supposed to coordinate the connections and synergies of all areas in sports, evaluate and optimize them together with the responsible persons.
