- Germany and Brandenburg should maintain their industrial sector.
CDU leader Friedrich Merz underscores the significance of industrial areas in Germany and Brandenburg. "We can only preserve our nation's wealth if we continue to be an industrial powerhouse," he stated during a tour of the surface coal mining site in Lichterfeld-Schacksdorf, alongside the CDU's lead contender for the state election on September 22, Jan Redmann.
Despite the cessation of coal-fired power production by 2038, this area requires continued backing. "This region won't be abandoned, but will be awarded compensation," Merz affirmed. The gap will be filled through the establishment of federal administrative structures, but primarily through industry settlement support. "This is an industrial region, an energy-generating region, and it must remain so in the future," Merz reiterated.
The Landtag's role in approving legislation supporting industry development is crucial. Merz emphasized the need for the CDU to prioritize industrial regions in their election platform for Brandenburg.
