Darts - Germany advances to the round of 16 at the World Darts Team Championship

Germany reached the last 16 at the World Cup of Darts in Frankfurt. One day after their exhausting 4:3 win against New Zealand, Gabriel Clemens and Martin Schindler advanced to the knockout stage on late Friday evening at the Eissporthalle, defeating outsiders Finland with Marko Kantele and Teemu Harju 4:1. Clemens and Schindler will be participating in the knockout round, which begins on Saturday and ends on Sunday evening with the final.

Following the completion of the group stage, the four seeded nations, England, Wales, Scotland, and the Netherlands, enter the tournament. Last year, Germany reached the semifinals but were eliminated by Scotland with Peter Wright and Gary Anderson. "If the solution and our game are on our side and we have momentum: What could possibly be in our way?", asked Schindler. In total, approximately 530,000 Euros in prize money will be awarded at the tournament, where 40 nations started.
