Germancy's average lifespan experienced an upturn post-coronavirus pandemic crisis.

From 2020 till 2022, the typical average survival period took a hit of 0.6 years due to the COVID-19 chaos. Despite a bump in survival duration in the previous year, the figures from 2019 haven't been restored yet.

Regarding the pandemic impact, the East and West have almost leveled out. By 2022, the East managed to bounce back after seeing significant decreases in 2020 and 2021, while the West continued to see a decrease in survival duration. In 2023, the survival duration improved in both regions, with the East experiencing a slightly more substantial rise.

As for females, both regions have almost returned to sharing the same survival span. However, men in the West still outlive their East counterparts by an average of 1.4 years. This gap expanded to 2.3 years in 2021.

The decline in the average survival period from 2020 to 2022 also impacted life expectancy. As a consequence, the average life expectancy saw a decrease during this time frame.

Despite the setback in life expectancy, efforts are being made to restore it in both the East and West, with the survival duration improving in 2023.
