Risk of accident - German Weather Service warns of icy conditions
The German Weather Service (DWD) is warning of slippery roads for parts of North Rhine-Westphalia until midday on Friday. For the western part around Aachen and the eastern part of the state from Wuppertal to Paderborn, a warning of significant slipperiness has been in place since last night. "There is an increased risk of slipperiness due to freezing rain," the DWD reports on its website.
"Freezing rain with black ice in some areas from the west. Focus from the Eifel to the Sauerland to East Westphalia," the DWD weather report states. Restrictions on road traffic are possible. The warning is valid in many places until Friday at 1 pm. According to the weather service, the freezing rain could also turn into snow in the mountains. Snowfall of one to five centimetres is possible.
