Contest - German School Contest: Delight in Leipzig as the finals approach

Principal Kathrin Riedel expressed immense pride on Friday regarding the Geschwister-Scholl-Primary School in Leipzig entering the concluding phase of the 2024 German School Prize competition. Citing the recent visit by the expert jury, Riedel noted their conveyed satisfaction with the educational approach of their school. On Thursday, the Saxon Ministry of Culture confirmed the nomination of the school on its Facebook page.

From the 15 finalists, the Geschwister-Scholl-School, housing 360 children from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, stands tall. Reflecting on their strategies, the administration disclosed how they cater to each child's requirements through the custom-made pedagogical method. The use of personalized weekly plans and learning diaries to track progress emphasizes their desire to recognize achievements and not focus on setbacks.

The awarding event featuring Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) is slated for October 2nd, focusing on teaching quality and innovations in learning and education. Given its prestige, the German School Prize is considered the most significant accolade for schools in Germany. With a primary prize worth EUR 100,000, five additional awards are valued at EUR 30,000 each. Since 2006, the Robert Bosch Foundation and the Heidehof Foundation have jointly administered the German School Prize.
