Road Congestion - German Railways plans to update partners on the start-up of S21 line.
When will the first trains begin passing through the recently constructed Stuttgart underground station? The German Railways (Deutsche Bahn) will divulge this information to the Stuttgart 21 project's members at a steering committee meeting on Tuesday. A representative from the railways confirmed that Deutsche Bahn would, per prior announcement, supply specifics regarding the 2026 schedule on this day. A press conference has been arranged (4:30 p.m.) post-meeting.
As disclosed by "Spiegel," Deutsche Bahn is expected to inform the stakeholders about the delay of the inauguration of the new Stuttgart central station until December 2026. Thus, the most debated German rail project will be postponed by another year, according to the magazine on Monday, quoting individuals within the rail company.
The precise commissioning schedule for the new station was unknown; in March, the Railways stated that the current Stuttgart main station would continue operations at least until 2026, and it was intended to be replaced by the underground station in December 2025.
