Because of the flood crisis in certain areas of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria, Deutsche Bahn is urging travelers to avoid heading to South Germany. Disruptions in long-distance transportation, specifically trains to Munich, are making it difficult for people to reach Stuttgart, Würzburg, and Nuremberg, as the railway reported on Monday. These challenges are anticipated to continue on Monday.

Affected routes include: Munich-Nuremberg-Erfurt-Berlin, Karlsruhe-Stuttgart-Ulm-Augsburg-Munich, Stuttgart-Mannheim-Frankfurt(M), Munich-Lindau-Bregenz-Zurich, Karlsruhe-Stuttgart-Crailsheim-Nuremberg, and Augsburg-Kempten (Allgäu)-Oberstdorf. Trains between Nuremberg and Würzburg are experiencing delays.

Tickets purchased for these routes until Sunday, intended for travel on Sunday and Monday, have been canceled. The ticket is still valid for traveling to the original destination via an alternate route. All other train journeys are expected to be severely congested.

Weather and Floods: East of Stuttgart areas severely impacted

On Monday morning, the situation in the Rems-Murr and Ostalb districts east of Stuttgart was especially dire. Days of non-stop rain have caused rivers and streams to overflow in numerous parts of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria. Thousands of people were forced to evacuate their homes. The Danube's water level is also increasing. Approximately tens of thousands of volunteers are actively contributing to the relief efforts. As per the German Weather Service, there might be powerful thunderstorms and torrential rain again during the first few days of the week.
