World Championship - German players at World Darts Championship - Clemens: "Shows quality"
For darts pro Gabriel Clemens, the record number of German participants at the upcoming World Championships in London is a good sign for the development of the sport in this country. "It shows the quality that we are now represented with five starters," said the semi-finalist of the last World Championship in an interview with Sport1: "We now have really good players in Germany. There are even a few more who haven't really come into focus yet and might be able to get a tour card in January."
In addition to Clemens, Martin Schindler, Florian Hempel, Dragutin Horvat and Ricardo Pietreczko will also be competing at Alexandra Palace this Friday. Clemens and Schindler are among the top 32 and are therefore seeded directly for the second round.
In his opening duel, Clemens could be up against the in-form Dutchman Gian van Veen. "I'll prepare for that like any other match," said the 40-year-old from Saarland calmly.
