Investigations - German killed in Norway: Suspect still in custody
In the case of a German woman killed in Norway, the suspect from Ahaus in Münsterland has made a statement to investigators. At a detention hearing requested by him, he stated that his 24-year-old partner had wanted to kill herself and had fired the first shot. According to the Münster public prosecutor's office, the man is still in custody. His appeal against his detention was unsuccessful.
According to the autopsy results published in October, the young woman was shot twice. The first of the two shots was fatal. The forensic experts also found burns on the woman, which were presumably inflicted after her death.
The woman's body was discovered in mid-October in Lake Falningsjøen in the municipality of Tynset, about 300 kilometers north of Oslo. The 29-year-old from Ahaus in Münsterland was arrested on suspicion of having killed his partner on a motorhome trip through Scandinavia.
The suspect had returned home on October 5 without his girlfriend and had claimed that she had left him. He did not admit to killing the woman, but stated that she had died. He also told investigators where the body was later found. According to the public prosecutor's office in Münster, the case is expected to go to trial in Germany.
