German Film Music Award for Hinderthür and Bataclan drama
Peter Hinderthür has been awarded the German Film Music Prize for his compositions for the fact-based anti-terror drama "Meinen Hass bekommt ihr nicht". The musician, born in 1971, was awarded the prize in the category "Best Music in Film" for his "pointedly set music for the unspeakable", according to the six-member expert jury in Halle. The prize is not endowed.
Hinderthür's film music for the film directed by Kilian Riedhof about the terrorist attack by Islamic terrorists on the Bataclan music club in Paris in 2015 is "never too much and never too loud". It always appears when it really fits; when it belongs in the film - as if from a single mold - as the laudatory speech stated.
"You won't get my hate" from the year 2022 is about a man who loses his wife, who is also the mother of his young son, in the attacks at the Bataclan club. 89 people died at the time. The film shows the emotions of the widower, his impressions, grief, anger and hope. Hinderthür came out on top against David Reichelt ("Tage, die es nicht gab") and Richard Ruzicka ("Laufen").
Chrisna Lungala and Hannes Ohde are the winners in the "newcomer" category. They have already composed together several times, for example for the film "Istina/Truth" (director: Tamara Denic), which recently won the Student Academy Award. Freya Arde was honored with the award in the category "Best Music in a Children's Film", as it was reported. The 2016 Young Talent Award winner was recognized by the jury for her music for the remake of Erich Kästner's "The Flying Classroom" (director: Carolina Hellsgård).
Reinhold Heil received the National Honorary Award. The 69-year-old is reportedly known for the film music for Tom Tykwer's blockbuster "Perfume. The Story of a Murderer" (2006), "The International" (2009) and "Run Lola Run" (1998). After years in the team with Tom Tykwer and Johnny Klimek, Heil began working as a solo composer in 2013, for example for "Tatort" and "Deutschland 83", for which he was awarded the Grimme Prize.
Anne Dudley (67) was awarded the Honorary International Prize. For example, she contributed to "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again" (2018, director: OI Parker) and "Tristan and Isolde" (2006, director: Kevin Reynolds).
The German Film Music Award was presented in Halle for the first time in 2014.
Hinderthür's compositions for the movie "Meinen Hass bekommt ihr nicht" were not only recognized with the German Film Music Award, but his music also received praise for its perfect timing and fitting intensity, making it a standout in the music category for films.
In addition to the German Film Music Award, there are other categories like "Best Music in a Children's Film" and the "Honorary International Prize," which have recognized talented musicians such as Freya Arde and Anne Dudley for their exceptional work in film music.
