German female soccer players keep their chance for the Olympics
The German women's national soccer team have retained their chance of taking part in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The team of interim national coach Horst Hrubesch won 3:0 (2:0) against Denmark in the Nations League match in Rostock on Friday evening. Captain Alexandra Popp (14th minute), Marina Hegering (26th) and Klara Bühl (90+3) scored the goals in front of 19,180 spectators at the sold-out Ostseestadion.
The win means that the DFB team are now top of their group. Denmark are also behind them with 12 points. This means that the German team still has the group win in its own hands when the preliminary round concludes next Tuesday in Wales.
The German women's DFB National team's outstanding performance in the Nations League, including their recent 3-0 win against Denmark, has significantly boosted their chances of representing Soccer at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Being at the top of their group with Denmark closely following, the Women's National team maintains control over their qualification in the upcoming Nations League matches.
