- German farmers vie for the optimal soil tilling angle in agricultural contests
At the German Competition in tilling, a grand total of 20 farmers from five different regions will be battling it out today (11:40 AM) in Langenau, situated north-east of Ulm. As per a press release from the event organizers, it's not just about keeping a straight line, but rather, fine-tuning the plow to match the specific soil conditions at hand.
Matters such as "regular upkeep of the working depth, long and even furrows, straight as an arrow, devoid of holes" in the tilled field hold immense significance, remarked Manfred Wolf from the German Plowing Council, as per the release. The contestants have around three hours to finish off a plot measuring approximately 1,600 square meters. The judges will then examine the attractiveness of the tilled field based on diverse criteria. The top two finishers will earn the opportunity to participate in the European and Global Championships for functional tilling.
The farmers participating in the German Competition are eager to showcase their skills in maintaining regular upkeep, long furrows, and a straight plot, as these aspects greatly impact the attractiveness of the tilled field. Regardless of who emerges as the winner, the top two finishers will be granted a spot in the European and Global Championships for functional tilling, offering them a chance to compete on a larger stage.
