The Czech-German Future Fund has announced a new annual theme for 2024. It is entitled "Limits to progress?" and aims to encourage a joint discussion about the impact of technical innovations on life. This was announced by a spokesperson in Prague on Tuesday. Funding will be provided for cross-border projects that deal with the advantages and disadvantages of artificial intelligence or the advancing digitalization in society and the economy.

An increased subsidy of up to 70 percent of the total costs will be granted for projects in the annual theme. A series of special calls for proposals will also be launched in the new year: "Moving Together" is intended to motivate young people from both countries in particular to undertake joint sports activities that also include a meeting or educational program. Other programs serve to network German and Czech libraries or are dedicated to the writer Franz Kafka.

The German-Czech Future Fund was established in 1997 to contribute to cross-border understanding and to promote joint projects and encounters. It is jointly financed by the governments in Berlin and Prague. The fund's activities were recently extended until 2027.
