Award - German Commitment Award goes to association for mental health
A Berlin initiative for the mental health of young people has been awarded the 2023 German Volunteering Prize on International Volunteer Day. The "Kopfsachen" association will receive the prize in the "Creating Opportunities" category, which is endowed with 5,000 euros, as announced by the Association of German Foundations on Tuesday. The association aims to strengthen young people mentally. Young mental health professionals go into schools to teach the basics of mental health skills. There are now also locations in Cologne and Hamburg.
Seven other projects from Bavaria, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony and Saxony also received prizes. The "Café kaputt" repair café (Saxony) and the citizens' alliance against right-wing extremism "Mut machen! Steele bleibt bunt" (NRW). The Audience Award, endowed with a total of 10,000 euros, is shared by two winners from Bavaria and Lower Saxony.
390 associations, organizations and people were nominated for the German Civic Engagement Award this year. The award has been honoring civic engagement in Germany since 2009.
